International Cambridge Curriculum

Cambridge International Examination (CIE) is the world's largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 5-19 years old. Cambridge International A Level qualifications are widely recognised & valued by universities. BINUS SCHOOL Semarang applies the International Cambridge Curriculum for its students from Early Childhood Years to High School.

CARE Time

Fostering strong universal values in our students and assisting to grow in their faith are essential BINUS-trademarks. At BINUS SCHOOL Semarang, two of the many important student-formation programmes are Character Education Sessions (CARE) and Pendidikan Agama dan Budi Pekerti in their respective faiths.

Our students’ sessions with their Class/Homeroom Teachers and Co-Teachers are conducted daily through the 15-minute CARE Time for all the grades (CIRCLE Time for the ECY Students). They also have a once-weekly CARE Session that is equivalent to a full class period. They also sit with teachers of their respective faiths to learn more about their faith communities’ beliefs and traditions. These sessions are designed to form in our students exemplary character.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

"Artificial Intelligence" or "AI" is the skill or ability shown by machines or technology that is normally demonstrated by human beings who have "natural intelligence". AI can be found in computer softwares/applications that allow machines to carry out tasks that are otherwise done by humans. AI enables humans to be more efficient and enhances communication and better and deeper interaction among themselves.

Examples of AI use in education are the learning platforms that help students explore topics with respect to their learning needs. Algorithm in Duolingo, for example, assesses a student's proficiency in a language and then supports their language acquisition according to their proficiency level.

An example of an online learning platform that we will use is Persona Life Skills. By completing engaging online tasks, students can know themselves better as well as learn how to build their socio-emotional skills.

In our School, we will also be using "Active Floor". It is a technological resource that helps students learn various academic and non-academic concepts through movement and play.  It develops memory, kinaesthetic interaction, physical activity, motivation, teamwork, communication, creativity, problem solving and social skills.

Learning Journeys

Teaching and learning in BINUS SCHOOL Semarang may not always occur in a face-to-face format in a regular classroom. Other than engaging students in out-of-classroom learning experiences, e.g., field trips, industry visits, community exposures, we may also bring our students to online sessions for virtual visits to facilities and/or places that are not easily accessible.

School Electives

Electives are put in place as part of the school’s holistic learning programme for our students. We believe that the school’s Electives Programme is one of the best ways for students to develop their individual personalities, enhance their social and academic skills, nurture healthy hobbies & habits, and create happier selves.

Immersion Programme

As part of the students’ learning experience, the school offers immersion activities for students during the academic year. These may include travels outside of the students’ city or, in some cases, country. This programme exposes students to cultures and experiences other than the one/s they are exposed to. Level Camps are an example of this. At the Level Camps, students explore unfamiliar surroundings, discover personal skills, strengths and areas of growth, and also build lifelong bonds. These camps are mandatory for all 7, 10 and 12 graders. Students will be required to cover costs for these camps.

BINUS offers these activities to provide its students diverse learning experiences as well as opportunities for networking with other students.

Support Program for Academics

Learning support initiatives may be made available at out-of-class hours to help students achieve better academic scores as well as to help them reach the standards set for their grade levels. These initiatives are given subject to the respective teachers’ available hours.

Strong University Placement Programme

We have a strong University Placement Programme that supports students, beginning in Grade 9, to aim for and be eligible for placement in their university-of-choice. This programme consists of Career Exploration and Guidance Sessions, University Fairs, administrative assistance with university applications and recommendations.

Wide Global Community

The BINUSIAN Community is now more than 186.000 strong! Through this growing network of alumni, students, parents and teachers, BINUS is able to reach, serve, and influence communities across the nation and the world. Through this connection, BINUS is able to enrich its students’ learning experiences through collaborations and partnerships with various industries and educational institutions both within and outside of the BINUSIAN Community. These engagements may include immersions, leadership programmes, and inter/intra-school activities.

Multi-denominational

BINUS SCHOOL gives its students time and space to develop and deepen their respective faiths through religion classes and activities. For instance, through the celebration of the Eucharist and the other Sacraments, Catholic students are helped to grow stronger in their faith. Moslem students are encouraged to do the daily prayer and participate in religious events, such as Pesantren Ramadhan. Buddhist students are brought on a tour of a Buddhist Temple to immerse them in their faith. Our students go for Spiritual Retreats with resource persons from their faith communities. All our students are also encouraged to talk with their teachers and guidance counsellors, as well as their other teachers about faith matters. In order to build respect for diversity, our students are also given opportunities to learn about the perspectives of other faiths through schoolwide events as well as to work together towards common human concerns and endeavours.

Direct Admission to BINUS Higher Education

Our graduates are entitled to direct admission with partial or full scholarship to BINUS International or to any of our BINUS University’s regular programmes.
