On 14 February 2023, the MSHS Student Council organized a Valentine’s Day themed event to raise funds for the Yayasan Panti Asuhan Kristen Eunike Orphanage. The event was called “Red ‘N Roses”, and the students were encouraged to wear clothing with shades of red and/or pink, as these colours are believed to promote love and kindness according to the emerging science of colour psychology.

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the universal values of “love and care” associated with Valentine’s Day, and to give back to those in need. The orphanage, provides shelter and support to 40 children, ranging from babies to adolescents, coming from conflict areas in Papua.

The event featured flowers and chocolates available for purchase, which students could give to their loved ones. Members of the school community are also invited to donate in kind, and drop boxes were strategically located in the lobbies of buildings A and B for donations of toiletries, noodles, milk formula, blankets, toys, and old but still decent-to-wear clothes for babies or teenagers.
The Student Council is thankful for the support from the school community. The donations will go a long way in making a positive impact on the lives of the children at the orphanage. The Student Council hopes that the fundraising event will serve as a reminder of the importance of spreading love and kindness in our communities and will continue to organize similar events in the future.
