Students Attend Global Citizenship Summit On March 7th and 8th, 2023, four student leaders, Denise, Nicole, Jovan and Farren, from BINUS SCHOOL Semarang joined online the Student Summit on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) held at BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi. The Summit, co-sponsored by BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi and The Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding under the Auspices of UNESCO, provided an exceptional opportunity for students to network with fellow student leaders, educators, and experts on GCED. Through workshops, plenaries, and exhibitions, participants explored global citizenship, environmental problems, and social and emotional learning. The event aimed to broaden the student’s perspective and understanding of GCED, and its relevance to local communities. The Summit also sought to enhance the capacities of teachers to promote GCED and socio-emotional learning inside and outside of classrooms.
One of the key goals of the Summit was to establish a national network of student leaders dedicated to promoting global citizenship. BINUS SCHOOL anticipates that the
experience of attending the Summit will enable the student-leaders to enhance their knowledge of environmental issues and their social components and equip them with the capacity to implement GCED in the local context.
